 1859 - stampless cover from "CASTIGLIONE DELLE STIVIERE 26 GIU." (59) to Vidauban, charged upon arrival "8" tenths, following the french austrian convention of 1858. Letter probably posted by a French military; two days earlier, the battles of Solferino and San Martino were fought in the area, where the Austrian army was defeated by Franco-Piedmont troops.
