1866 - 3s green, two copies, and 5s pink, two hori
1866
1866 - 3s green, two copies, and 5s pink, two horizontal pairs, all 5th issue, from "CIVIDALE 19/6" to Milano. Letter forwarded via Switzerland due to the beginning of the war between Italy and Austria. It is one of the very first documents with this routing. The letter was franked only with the Austrian rate for a 3rd distance (26 soldi); such rate only covered rights for Austrian and Swiss routes, so it was taxed 20 centes to cover the costs of the Italian route, as shown by the handstamp "AFFR. INSUF.". Very rare postal history item, with all perfect stamps. Cert. E.Diena (Sassone 42+43 - € -)
