 1860 - 3b brown and 7b light blue, both slightly cut on one side, from “ANCONA 11 SETTEMBRE 1860' to Ferrara. Letter franked at the double Pontifical rate up to the Italian border, taxed on arrival 20 centesimi (single Italian rate), later corrected to 40 centesimi (double Italian rate). Rare cover of significant historical interest, being sent on the very day the Sardinian army began its invasion of the Marche. Particularly interesting is the internal annotation: “while the Volunteers have already invaded Urbino and are preparing for a battle towards Fano'. Cert. Colla (Sassone 4Aa+8a - Euro -).
