 1862 -5 grana carmine red (slightly short at right), in mixed franking with Kingdom of Italy, Matraire 10c olive-bistre perforated (equivalent 2 grana), from 'ARPAJA 30 SET 62' to Rome. Rate of 7 grana valid to the Italian border, taxed in manuscript '8' (bajocchi) on arrival for Papal internal fees, later cancelled due to privilege exemption. Unique recorded mixed franking of this type, further enhanced by the Italian stamp used the day before its official introduction in Naples. Signed Em.Diena and Colla; cert.
