1863 - Italian Post Offices Abroad, Alexandria of Egypt: 10c ochre yellow, 2nd Plate, two examples, and 40c carmine rose, all '62 printing, cancelled at Alexandria of Egypt with the boxed blue 'PIROSCAFI POSTALI FRANCESI' handstamp, to Naples. Letter franked for 60c, 'FRANCOBOLLO INSUFFICIENTE' and taxed '4' decimes, equal to double the missing rate. Second voyage of the French Postal Steamers on 27 March '63. Address restored, letter nevertheless most interesting and probably unique for the period with insufficient franking. Bottacchi certificate (Sassone 14Dd+16E)
